When ever I try, it would seem that my "day trips" end up with a ton of rain or a ton of snow. This time it was a ton of snow. Given the fact that I have been to St. Helen's before ... only issue being I don't remember it due to my stroke, this was to be a GREAT trip. After all the blasted volcanco is active, a bit calmer now, but still ... I am not a nut case, I waited until it calmed down a bit before I decided to head up that way.
So off we go see what I have once seen a few years back. My kids had a blast, after all they remembered it exactly ... this bridge is gonna scare you because it's so high!!! (I love thier way of memory.) We crossed so many "see how high it is" bridges, it was not funny. We even stopped at a rest area to look at the area, & got our kids suviours ... uggg, what a horrid things to think of. But well worth it for them.
Most of what I can remember is twisting & whining roads, few brides ... water fall!!, then some fog (waaaa) and them came the snow. After that I had to turn back because even my truck was having issues with it. But I must say the snow ball fight between the males in the family was interesting ... my daugher & I had the sense to stay inside the truck!! After all, it's cold & silly us forgot COATS ... hmm, that would cause a problem now won't it?
Here are a few pics of what we saw ... I love when I have a few days off. We did this BEFORE Easter ... roads were amazing, no one was traveling ... beautiful.
this is where the end of the 1st exploison point ... This is also the bridge my children dreaded the entire trip. Funny, huh?
Off a look off point ... the view is amazing. Always take the time to look, even if you don't use the shops they have to offer!
I loved this so much ... I had my hubby run across the road to take another shot ... & I am not lying!!!
It is so beautiful .... lucky for us, as I said NO TRAFFIC!!!
Although the 1st one doesn't look much like snow they both are ... there was tons of it. Which pretty much end the trip ... but we got to see the mountains.
Of course with Mother-In-Law coming, it gives us something else to plan for now doesn't it? Oh ... I didn't mention she's coming for a month. We are all so excited. We plan on taking her to see St Helens!!!
