He broke his hand ... Boxer's Style

Now, even though I had to stay in the ER all night & all morning ... then return to the hospital a few hours later to have his hand correctly casted. This is an extremely interesting story to tell ... on that I sincerely hope I never forget. Sadly, I happened to have been at work when it occured, but the dental assistances thought it was amusing -- pity they didn't think anything else.

Wed I had to drop my 2nd oldest off with my husband who had my oldest & youngest (who has pneumonia). Because I could not get him to school on time & get to work. He was at a dental appointment. During this time, my 3 had to sit in a waiting room. Now, I told my kids to behave & not to have any problems ... I should have been late. I just should have been!

This is where the sibling rivarly decides to occur ... in a interesting way. She takes his note book, starts flipping though it, then takes pictures with Dad cell phone & starts sending them to me! "This is what he does in school" -- have you ever seen how small they come though??? Ok, now when you send to computer they are big but on a cell they are small. As if I could tell, plus I was at work & it was really none of her business! Of course he gonna get mad. He tells her to give it back, of course that's not an option she understands. I think this is one of those times when "Duh" comes in to effect.

At this point, he balls up his fist & swings ... I have to say her reaction is pretty good because she pulls up her leg & he hits her knee instead of her face! Lucky for her, because he hit it hard enough to break part of his hand ... instand swelling. Yet he can move it. Because of this, no one really thinks "break" is involved.

Now I get this entire story when I get home later that night, look at his hand ... do some minor touching on his hand. I can touch some areas, not any problems ... hit one & boy goes ghost white and the you can hear the pain come out. So off to the ER I go again ... Thanking my Gods that he did this in a dental clinic where there were witness' to see it!

We get there around 9:30 & are there until almost 5am the next morning. I have to be back at the hospital by 9 am to have it full casted the same morning.

During this time, we have it X-rayed, the tech shows me the brake ... so I know not to leave. I knew it was broken before I took him, but to see it ... damn, right below the knuckle! It's called a boxer's break ... of course they all think it's interesting that he hit his sister's knee, but really suggest he does not do it again. They also suggest that he does not put that much force in a punch again.

Between the ER & the bone docs I don't know who got more a kick from this. They say usually when you hit a persons face or a wall ... but a knee. Plus with his age it is really uncommon! I am sitting there thinking, ok you are telling me this because I have this kid who will be in there alot for this or because I need to do what???

I don't encourage my kids to fight. Honestly, I believe in talking things out first. But if a punch is thrown, don't be afriad to defind yourself. Which is why my kids will be attending Karate this summer, so they can learn what defense is properly. Because this how I learned was to fight ... well to win, & it's not pretty. I want my children to learn to fight to defend themself, also when you learn Karate properly you learn more than just defence ... you learn control, the ablitlity to control your temper, the situation if possible.

But back to the situation .. my poor daughter did feel bad when she saw what she started. Although, it is not her fault, because my son balled his hand & swung, she did have a part part in the situation. Those two are so much a like ... yet they just don't get it! LMAO it just doesn't get boring in this house with my children.

I have to include the pictures he took with the cell ... how to put on a cast. How interesting, & the questions they got.

Just a few to show, one shows adding padding; one is when actual casting is drying & one show when they are cutting area to explose the fingures ... after all they have to breath. I gave him my phone to keep him from moving ... he took over 30 pictures!

5 Positive Things:

* I learned more than I needed to from casting ... although it helps.

* I read another Journal today, earthchanges and what they wrote helped a lot ... even though it wasn't meant to ... interesting, huh?

* I had a long interesting discussation with my oldest & she is going to work on not annoying her brother! Yea for my discussion ... for once it worked!

* I have cleaned the laundry room ... not on to the rest of my house. Spring type cleaning ... my family is trying to hide from me.

* That horrid weight on me has been lifted ... it is amazing! I love it ... how amazing, free it is.
