Yesterday I sat & watched a man who had helped me several times, hand over his command to a new commander. Then he announced his retirement from the military ... this I knew in advance, but still I wanted to sit & cry.
When I found out I had my stroke, he was able to get my husband home before the red cross message even was recieved in the field. This individual has always LISTENED to everyone without recentment. He treats everyone equals; and does not hold one above the other. (Unlike a few others.)
Any time that I have had ever had to deal with him, it has always been in the most capable manner. He has NEVER treated me with the rude manner that I have gotten from several other individuals in that unit.
When you give respect, are are treat that way it makes a difference. I always treated with what I should him, unlike the others ....
Now it was his turn to turn over his command. He decide it was time to retire from the military was well ... This family will be missed.
His wife -- that woman kicked ass on our unit. 99he families don't know it & will really be missing her when she is gone. They don't know how much. She came in, helped our FRGs start working the right way ... got our wife's working together. Ensured that we had the information that we needed it ASAP, was there when we needed her ... and was a friend when we needed it.
In the ended, pettiness is taking her away from many who will need her in the up coming year. I have watched her take a unit's FRG & make it work ... wifes in battieries who don't talk but only bicker & not work together. But she got them talking & working together.
I can only sit back & hope that new commander & his wife are anything like our old ... because they will be missed. Rarely do you EVER find a couple that work that well together & touch that many people.
I have heard rumors ... but rumors are rumors. I deal with how they touched me & how they effected me. In my opinion every one else can kiss my ass if they want me to listen to they gossip on the rest ...
In the end ... That group has lost an amazing couple. I am sure the new commander will do well ... I only hope the new wife knows what she is stepping into.
